Hi everyone, I’ve been building a small toy for Unity: the Connected Rooms Generator. Pick a seed, press a button, and you get a complete, playable level.

What it does
CRG grows a set of rooms and connects every one of them with doors, so no room is ever out of reach. Rooms are built from cells: hexagons, squares, triangles, or octagons with squares. You can also turn on Mixed mode, where every room picks its own shape and they all fit together edge to edge.

Ready to play, not just to look at
The whole level comes out as a single ProBuilder mesh, so you can still edit it by hand. It has floors, walls of any thickness, door openings and optional ceilings. Colliders, a NavMesh, door prefabs, spawn points, and marked start and end rooms can all be added on top. Generate the level and drop a player in.

You’re in control
- Same seed, same level, every time.
- Compact or sprawling, with a single slider.
- A tree or loops: one route between rooms, or many.
- In the Editor or at runtime: build levels by hand or generate a new one every play.
CRG started as a hexagon experiment and turned into a small level-building toolkit. I’m having a lot of fun with it, and I’d love to hear what you’d build with it. 🙂
